RIP Tom Shea & Jeanne Martin


Condolences to the family and friends of Borough residents Tom Shea and Jeanne Martin, who recently passed away.


Tom Shea, 240 Winona Road, passed away on Saturday, July 6th. Tom was 81 years old and is survived by his wife of 53 years, Janet Ann (Johnson) Shea,


Retired after 25 years, Tom was a Lieutenant Colonel in the US Army Reserves and served on Operation Desert Storm. He was a long-time member of the Mount Pocono Municipal Authority, serving from the late 1980 thru the 1990’s. Tom’s wife, Janet, was the Borough’s Tax Collector for 12+ years. Tom was a kind and generous soul always willing to help a neighbor with grass cutting and snow removal services. There will be a viewing from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 14 at Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco. The Rev. Fr. Gregory Loughney will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Monday, July 15 at the Villa of Our Lady, 245 Meadowside Road, Mount Pocono. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.


In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Most Holy Trinity Parish, 236 Route 390, Cresco, PA 18326. The Borough also recently lost Jeanne Martin, 15 Hemlock Road, after a battle with cancer, Jeanne was 91 years old. She worked for the Federal Aviation Administration in Washington D.C. and resided in Falls Church, Virginia, before moving to Mount Pocono upon her retirement. Jeanne was often in touch with the Borough offices and was an ever watchful "eye of the neighborhood.” Jeanne died Friday, June 28 at St. Mary’s Villa in Elmhurst Township, Pa., and her services were held on July 3, 2019.
