PA COVID-19 Cases Up Almost 50% in One Day, 16 Deaths in State, Monroe County has Second Victim
HARRISBURG (MAR 26 2020) -- This afternoon the Pennsylvania Department of Health released figures showing that, as of midnight yesterday, the number of patients in Pennsylvania confirmed to have the novel coronanvirus, or COVID-19, grew by 49.6% yesterday as 560 new cases were confirmed, bringing the state total to 1,687. Monroe County cases grew by over 30% yesterday, to 67 persons infected, and one additional death. The Department of Health said there have been 16 deaths in Pennsylvania since the outbreak began. Nationally, there are currently 69,684 cases, with 1,049 deaths. The United States is likely to pass Italy today and become second only to China in total cases.
