NWS Issued a CODE RED for Mt Pocono -- 60 mph winds & large hail on way

UPDATE 4:40 pm -- The Code Red has been lifted, but a Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 10pm as conditions are ripe for extremely high winds and hail to develop again tonight. Saying that 60 mph winds and large hail can be expected between 3:30 and 4:15 pm this afternoon, the National Weather Service has issued a Code Red for Mount Pocono & surrounding areas. * Until 415 PM EDT.
* At 327 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from Pocono Pines to Echo Lake, moving east at 40 mph.
HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Damage to roofs, siding, trees, and power lines is
possible.
* Locations impacted include...
Mount Pocono, Tobyhanna, Henryville, Werry Lake, Pocono Pines,
Analomink, Skytop, Mountainhome, Canadensis, Alpine Mountain,
Scotrun, Blakeslee, Echo Lake, Paradise Valley, Gouldsboro State
Park, Arrowhead Lake, Long Pond, Cresco, Marshalls Creek and Hidden
Lake.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.
In addition to large hail and damaging winds, frequent cloud to
ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Move indoors
immediately. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough
to be struck by lightning.
Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
