Mount Pocono Schedules Mystery "Emergency" Meeting Only Two Days Before Regular Meeting
MOUNT POCONO (SEP 2 2020) - The Mount Pocono Borough Council has advertised an "Emergency Meeting" for tomorrow, Thursday, September 3, at 7 pm. The meeting will take place at the borough building as well as by Zoom (connection information is at the end of this report).
No explanation of the "emergency" has been provided and borough officials contacted by The Boro either did not respond or said they did not know what the emergency could be. Nor was anyone willing, or able, to explain why whatever they were planning to do could not wait until the next regular meeting of council on Tuesday, September 8 - only two business days after the "emergency" meeting.
The Borough Code makes no provision for an "emergency" meeting. An executive session was also scheduled for tomorrow immediately prior to the public meeting. Council also held an executive session last week.
The advertisement appeared in the Pocono Record on Tuesday, September 1. Although the legal ad instructed participants to call the borough offices to obtain Zoom connection information, when contacted the assistant secretary said that she was not provided with that information. Zoom connection information was emailed to The Boro by the council president at 11:59 pm on the first.
The connection information provided by the borough is: Claudette Williams is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.
