Mount Pocono Borough Council Keeping Agenda for Tonight's Meetings A Secret
MOUNT POCONO - Mount Pocono Borough is the only municipality in the Top of the Mountain community that does not publish its agenda and meeting information on its website in advance of the meetings. Tobyhanna and Coolbaugh Township routinely make their agenda public as many as three days in advance of their meetings. Until mid-August, Borough Secretary Noonan routinely sent the agenda and packet to residents, volunteers, press, and other interested parties who had requested it. Now that she is out on medical leave, and they've appointed a full-time assistant secretary, that's another part of Secretary Noonan's job which is still not getting done. Not only isn't it getting done, but neither the assistant secretary nor council president has bothered to even respond to requests for the materials. Nor have they provided connection information for online access to the meeting.
The council president has ordered a special meeting for 6 pm tonight, but besides a last-minute grant application, the rest of the agenda remains hidden from public view. Similarly, although they previously announced the work session would address the regional police with Chief Wagner in attendance, no agenda has been released. Because of safety restrictions on indoor gatherings during the pandemic, only a dozen or so members of the public should be permitted to attend the meeting tonight, so we hope one of them will be able to get the word out on whatever it is they do tonight.
