Monroe County Coronavirus Patient in Isolation at Local Hospital
Updated: Mar 12, 2020

The Monroe County Coronavirus patient included in the State Department of Health briefing this afternoon, is in isolation at a local hospital, according to a medical professional familiar with the man's treatment. The source, a senior practitioner with privileges at the hospital, declined to be identified because they were not authorized to officially speak on the matter. The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed to The Boro* that the patient was not infected from a local source. "The case was from exposure to an area in another state where there are cases occurring," said Nate Wardle, DOH Press Secretary, in an email to The Boro's editor early this evening. The individual was admitted on Friday, March 6, with COVID-19 symptoms and immediately placed in isolation in an negative air-flow room to prevent spread. Testing was performed but results have not yet confirmed the Coronavirus. The individual is sick, but not in serious condition and does not require placement in the Intensive Care Unit. No information was available on the potential for the man to have exposed others before his admission. Officials are investigating the patient's contacts prior to admission. More information will be provided as it is received.
