Funeral for Victims in Mount Pocono Crash Set for This Thursday

STROUDSBURG -- The Funeral Service for Desiree Tobon and Sam DeJesus has been set for this Thursday, March 18, from 11 am until 2 pm. According to the Bensing Thomas Funeral Home, due to a large number of mourners expected, the service will be conducted at the Stroudsburg Wesleyan Church, 915 North Fifth Street, Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania 18360. Masks and social distancing will be required. Respects may be paid beginning at 11 am and a service will be conducted starting at 12:30 pm.
Sam, 18, and his sister Desiree, 22, died from injuries sustained when Sam lost control of his 2001 Honda Civic on Center Avenue in Mount Pocono on Wednesday, March 10.
Desiree and Sam lived in Pocono Summit with their family, including their mother, Marisa DeJesus, Sam's father Samuel DeJesus, as well as their sisters Brianna, 16, and Emory, 2. Desiree's father, James Tobon, lives in Clifton New Jersey, where she graduated from high school.
Desiree was a popular cashier at Bill's Shop Rite in Mount Pocono while her brother worked at the Mount Pocono McDonald's for the last two years. Sam was a 2020 Pocono Mountain East graduate.
Desiree Janelle Tobon was born in Passaic NJ on March 22, 1998 her parents are James Tobon, Clifton, NJ, and Marissa Lynn (Moreland) DeJesus, Pocono Summit. Samuel Enrique DeJesus Jr. was born in Passaic NJ on September 4, 2002, his parents are Samuel Enrique DeJesus Sr. and Marissa Lynn (Moreland) DeJesus, Pocono Summit.
