Free produce vouchers available for eligible Monroe County Seniors

Time is running out for eligible Monroe County Seniors to get their Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) produce vouchers. They will be available only until September 30 and must be used by November 30. Part of a state and federal program to encourage seniors to eat more fresh fruits and vegetables, eligible Monroe County residents aged 60 or over can receive $20 worth of vouchers (four vouchers, each valued at $5) that can be used to purchase fresh Pennsylvania-grown produce sold at certified farmers’ markets throughout Monroe County. The closest certified markets to Mount Pocono are the STOLTZFUS MARKET at the junctions of routes 390 & 447 in Canadensis, and the WERKHEISER FARM, 173 Old Mill Road in Tannersville. You can find other certified markets HERE. Vouchers can be obtained at the Loder Senior Center, 62 Analomink St., East Stroudsburg, on Tuesdays & Wednesdays from 10 am to 2 pm. Proof of age and Monroe County residency must be presented to receive vouchers. Acceptable forms of identification include Pennsylvania driver’s license or non-driver’s ID and other forms of ID that include age and residency. To receive the vouchers, 2018 household income must not exceed the following guidelines:
1 person: $23,107 2 people: $31,284 3 people: $39,461 4 people: $47,638 Income determination for the vouchers is based on self-declaration, so proof of income is not required.
