Another Wawa Delay
Updated: May 26, 2019
The Hirschland development (on 940, next to Weiss/across from Lowes), has been 'in the works' for over ten years now. Last year, the developer asked for a final extension on obtaining the final agency approvals for the retail development which includes a promised WaWa convenience store/gas station.
Council granted the extension, with several members indicating that they thought it should be the "final" extension. The extension expires in July. When the developer made the request last fall, they initially sought a one-year extension to October 2019. At the Planning Commission, they estimated that nine-months would be plenty of time.
Not so fast.
Really. Not. So. Fast.
At the June regular meeting of Council, on the agenda will be yet another delay. According to the developer's attorneys, they still await state regulatory agency approvals on various aspects of the proposed development. So, they are asking for an extension of the time period through October 2, 2019. You can read their letter request HERE.
